NOBLE IN YOUR STORE – SPANISH WINES
This week we are presenting you three wines from diverse regions of Spain. Two are recent releases and one is a Vintage Essential that has always received high praise. All are under $30 and are excellent values!
2011 Barón de Ley Reserva – 89 points robertparker.com
In the 2011 vintage the wine is mostly Tempranillo, but it also contains 15% Graciano and 5% Maturana. After 20 months ageing in new American-oak casks, a further 24 months rounding off in the bottle, the palate feels compact, with fine tannins and good balance, fresh enough and with a tasty finish. Great wine for Spring BBQ!
2015 Bodegas Vetus, Flor de Vetus – 89 points Wine Align
A perfect wine for Sauvignon Blanc lovers! It is made with the Verdejo grape in the region of Rueda from old bush vines that grow 800 metres above sea level. Bright yellow colour with green gleams. Intense and harmonious aromas and a rich fruit expression. Tropical fruits and citric notes on the palate, persistent aftertaste.
2007 Monasterio de las Vinas Gran Riserva – 91 points robertparker.com
Aged for two years in oak and then three years in bottle before release. This dark, dense blend of Garnacha, Tempranillo and Carignan conveys a powerful sense of elegance and style. Vines are over 40 years old and soil is predominantly clay. A real steal at $17.95 for a 2007 vintage!
Salute!
