We have great pleasure (and are super excited) to announce that the North American oyster shucking champion John Bil will be hosting an East Coast oyster and clam night with us at Hi-Lo in Riverdale.
Cited in the New York Times as a “shellfish shaman”, he has been featured in enRoute, The New Yorker, documentary films (Keep on Shucking), TV shows including Chuck’s Day Off, Live! With Regis & Kelly, The Today Show, The Rick Mercer Report to name a few.
John’s restaurant Ship to Shore, was named one of Canada’s Top 10 New Restaurants in 2009, by enRoute Magazine. John was also named one of Canada’s “Food Mavericks”, in the October 2010 issue of Tidings magazine.
In addition to his restaurant, farming, and consulting work, John is the three-time (1997, 2001, 2005) Canadian oyster shucking champion. He currently imports high quality seafood into Toronto and Montreal, from his many contacts on the east coast of US and Canada.
