Luvo Ntezo spoke passionately at lunch hosted by Wines of South Africa at Beast restaurant in downtown Toronto recently. He spoke both about his love of wine generally, but also of the importance of the wine industry in post-apartheid South Africa. Ntezo is the Head Sommelier at One And Only Capetown, one of the world’s fancier hotels and resorts. As such, he regularly introduces the international jet set to South African wines, so it was natural for WOSA to draft him as their international spokeperson this year. GFR caught up with the top-of-his-craft young sommelier after the four course lunch prepard by Chef Scott Vivian, which used Canadian ingredients for Cape inspired dishes and was attended by media and VIPs like South Africa’s Consul General in Toronto Tselane Mokuena and South African Airline’s David Chorley, to shoot the video below over a glass of Boekenhoutskloof’s The Chocolate Block.
