Well, what do you know, whilst I was having a delightful lunch with Yalumba’s Jane Ferrari at a Barossa coffee shop in walked two living legends of Australian winemaking, Prue and Stephen Henschke of the iconic Henschke family winery.
What a fortuitous meeting!
After some brief introductions were made, next thing you know they had invited us back to their winery to observe the 2011 vintage’s pump-overs… I’ll admit that I was quite taken aback at both this random meeting and tremendous hospitality.
As I traversed the narrow catwalk and stood on the edge of the winery’s old open-top fermenters, filming the wines bubbling away underneath me, it suddenly occurred that there was a distinct possibility of me being overcome by the carbon dioxide and slipping into the 2011 Hill Of Grace, camcorder and all!
Thankfully this did not transpire, and after a great tank sampling session we filmed this little interview.
