Rosewood Estates have been making some pretty damn good Ontario Semillon for over half a decade now, and with the upcoming release of the 2011 and the introduction of new Winemaker Luke Orwinksi (previously their Assistant Winemaker and Vineyard Manager), Rosewood are seriously hitting their stride.
In speaking with Luke it became immediately apparent that he has a undeniably holistic approach when it comes to his winemaking. Sure, we have all heard that great wines are made in the vineyard, but the way in which he describes the meticulous care he takes with his fruit, from bud to bottle, speaks volumes about both his integrity as a Winemaker and his passion for the craft.
He is one to watch, of that I have no doubt.
Look out for the 2011 Rosewood Semillon in a June release through the LCBO, it’s certainly worth picking up.
